OUR SERVICES

X-RAY

images XRAY.jpg

Our X-Ray Procedure
X-Rays are a safe, fast and accurate way for a physician to look at and evaluate broken bones and fractures. Though exposure to radiation during an X-ray is very minimal, as a precaution, pregnant women should avoid X-rays.
The radiographs are captured digitally, so your physician can have access to the images within minutes of completion of the study. Your x-ray images can be provided to you on a CD because they are captured digitally. If required, you will be able to take your x-ray images to your referring physician or specialist.
Our expert, on-site team is compassionate and efficient. The X-ray is completed quickly. If the image shows that you require immediate treatment, your physician will have your results within 1 business day and they will contact you to explain the findings.
Preparation
There are no preparations required for general x-ray. However prior to your X-ray, depending on which body part is being imaged, you may be asked to remove your watch, jewellery or garments with metal closures. These items can block part of the image.
We are sensitive to your individual needs and will make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Book An X-Ray Appointment
X-Ray is done on a walk-in basis. No appointment is necessary. Don’t forget to bring your health card!

MAMMOGRAPHY ( BREAST SCREENING )

mammography-image.jpg

What is Mammography?

Women falling in the age group of 20 and 39 years without any symptoms of breast disorders need to have a clinical breast analysis at least once every three years. This examination can be performed by a nurse practitioner, a physician, a physician assistant or a nurse. These professionals analyze both the breasts to find out any inconsistencies in size or shape. The health care professional will also feel the breasts to identify any masses or lumps. The under arm area will also be analyzed to find out any growth of lymph nodes.

Preparation for a mammogram

The following steps should be taken by a woman in preparation for a mammogram

  • If you ever underwent any breast procedures at a facility, you need to bring the list of the places along with the dates of the procedures. It’d greatly help if you carry mammography films of the past if any.

  • Avoid any Deodorant or Powder on the day of your mammogrpahy procedure.

  • Wear a two piece outfit as you need to peel of your clothes above the waist. Avoid putting on any heavy jewellery that needs to be removed while undergoing the procedure.

NUCLEAR IMAGING

medical-imaging.png

Nuclear medicine imaging uses small amounts of radioactive materials called radiotracers that are typically injected into the bloodstream, inhaled or swallowed. The radiotracer travels through the area being examined and gives off energy in the form of gamma rays which are detected by a special camera and a computer to create images of the inside of your body.

Nuclear medicine imaging provides unique information that often cannot be obtained using other imaging procedures and offers the potential to identify disease in its earliest stages.

At Pickering Diagnostic Imaging, we offer a variety of Nuclear Medicine services including Renal Scans, Lung Scans and Thyroid Scans
